Newport RI Golf & Tennis Information
Newport, Rhode Island and the surrounding communities offer wonderful golf courses open to the public. If you're fortunate to be able to play Newport County Club, it is a breathtaking course overlooking Ocean Drive and in the summer of 2006, the Women's Open will be hosted there.
Newport, RI is also home to the International
Tennis Hall of Fame which is a must see while visiting Newport, RI.
The exhibits are presented in an informative and entertaining manner with
interactive displays and memorabilia from the history of Tennis. Once
the home to the U.S. Tennis Open, the beautifully maintained grass courts
are open to the public.

Green Valley Country Club: This course will provide a good test of your golfing ability. The front nine was built on flat terrain, while the back nine was built in a valley. Water hazards (seven ponds) come into play on seven holes. |

Jamestown Golf Course: The club personnel claim this is the oldest public course in the United States. The fairways are wide open and the sloping greens are large. Course is nine holes and 5 minutes from Newport. 401 423-9930 |
| Travel Tip: In July, the Tennis Hall of Fame hosts Tennis Week and inducts their newest member. There are many events and activities for both tennis and non-tennis enthusiasts. |
Newport National is home to the Orchard Course, which opened in June 2002 to rave national and regional reviews. The course is located on almost 200 acres of former shrub and tree nurseries and offers sweeping views of The Sakonnet Passage, Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay. |
